A multidisciplinary medical team (a group of specialists working together) is important and may include a neurologist (nerve and muscle specialist), geneticist (gene specialist), rehabilitation doctor, physiotherapist, pulmonologist (respiratory or breathing specialist), cardiologist (heart specialist), orthopedic specialist (bones and joints), dietitian, speech and language therapist, and psychologist.
