Which therapeutic approaches show the greatest potential?

Gene-based approaches, including gene replacement therapy and upregulation of related genes to compensate for missing laminin alpha-2 protein, as well as linker-protein replacement therapies are currently considered among the most promising. Both are being actively investigated, though more research is needed before any can be confirmed as safe and effective in humans.
